Island Peak, or Imja Tse, how locals call it, is an amazingly beautiful peak of Himalayas. Situated above the Chukkung valley the peak really looks like an island, stuck between the Lhotse/Nuptse mountains on the north and Baruntse on the south. Just turn on your imagination and try to see the spectacular panorama you will enjoy from that point.
Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing, the first climbers to Mt. Everest, used the Island Peak as a training peak before the climbing of their life. Today, the same path, discovered by the legends, is used by the climbers from all over the world. And the Island Peak is still a training point for those who is going to climb Everest, as the skills required in both cases are the same: crossing crevasses with ladders and using jumars on a fixed line.
It is needless to say that you will enjoy stunning mountain views along the journey. But the real breathtaking 360 degrees panorama will be waiting for you on the very summit of the peak.
The giant peaks of Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) to the north, the views of Makalu (8475m) to the east and Baruntse and Ama Dablam to the south. We are sure you have never experienced anything like this before.
